The Optimist Club of Urbandale
Friend of Youth
Meeting on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 6:30 at the Urbandale Middle school  on Aurora Ave.
Our Optimist Club has an annual Easter Egg Hunt and Child Identification Program on the weekend before Easter. We invite pre schoolers through first graders to meet the Bunny and to get some candy filled eggs.  Some of the eggs even contain information for a special prize.  Parents are able to get a Child ID free of charge that they can keep on hand just in case the unthinkable happens.   The photo album at left shows you some of the fun we had this year

Below is the Optimist Creed which is how we try to live life.  The Creed is said at the end of every club meeting

Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind...
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them...
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true...
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

JOOI stands for Junior Octagon Optimist International and is the organization for young people to be involved at the high school, middle school and elementary school levels.  There is a JOOI club at Urbandale High School providing young people the opportunity for community service.  Click on the torch to learn more about JOOI!
