Things We Do
It's one thing to tell you what we do and its another to show you. Here is a short slide show of the Childhood Cancer Campaign project completed in March of 2011 at the Incredible Pizza Company in Urbandale. Families of kids with cancer associated with the Iowa Heart Connection (now the Childhood Cancer Connection) joined us for a night of fun.
The club conducts projects throughout the area on a monthly basis. These include the annual Hay Rack Ride featured on the home page with English Language Learners from Urbandale Middle School. We conduct two projects a year with children and their Families from The Children;s Cancer Connection. There is the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Child ID project the weekend before Easter. The Essay Contest is in January and the Oratorical contest usually in March or April. We help out at Santa's workshop as part of the Make A Wish Foundation's Jolly Holiday Lights Project. The club sponsors boy and girl golfers from Urbandale High School to participate in the Optimist Junior Golf Competition in June. We also afford our members an opportunity for personal growth and improvement through a number of seminars put on by Optimist International
