The club will again participate in the Optimist International Essay Contest. We hope to partner with Urbandale High school to find some students who would be interested in writing an essay for a chance at a $2,500 scholarship provided by Optimist International. Any other high school aged student who would like to participate can do so but please notify the club via the contact page of your intentions so we can get you the necessary information.
Plans are in the works for a couple of events this spring affecting children who have been touched by cancer. We are working on a project with Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines and before spring the club will again be heading to the Incredible Pizza Company with the kids from the Children's Cancer Connection.
There are also plans for a late February-early March, mid Optimist year NOW meeting. It's designed to expose other people in the community to the projects, fellowship and learning opportunities we have access to by just being an Optimist.
