Welcome! The Optimist Club of Urbandale is a group of people in the community who come together to conduct projects that will enhance the lives of children of all age groups. We have an annual hayrack ride in the fall that is targeted toward under privilege children. There is the annual spring time Easter Egg hunt targeted toward younger children and combined with the child identification program offered by the Urbandale Police Department. We conduct a contest at the middle school level to help develop public speaking abilities and at the high school level we have an essay contest which includes scholarship opportunities. At least once a year we also develop a project to help out children with cancer or their families as part of Optimist International's Childhood Cancer Campaign. Sometimes we just get together to have some fun and fellowship in what some people call their second family. There's more information about all of this on our site including how you can get involved. But the bottom line for is really embodied in our organization's mission statement which says, "By providing hope and a positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in kids." Thanks f
